Leah M. Bickley

From a young age, my passion for entertainment has been the driving force in my life. From childhood skits to leading roles in high school productions, my passion for theatre has been a constant. Summers were dedicated to writing and musical theater camps, nurturing my storytelling skills. This early dedication culminated in securing my commitment to the stage and setting the foundation for my theatrical career.

After taking my first playwriting class in my second year at SUNY Purchase College, I found my true calling. The art of crafting stories for the stage ignited a passion that quickly consumed me. I immersed myself in the craft, producing numerous plays driven by an insatiable desire to see my words come to life.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I co-founded Let's Make a Theatre Company!/New Day Art Collective with my playwriting mentor, Scott Adkins. We successfully produced two showcases, featuring original pieces and an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby"

In my final year of my undergraduate degree, my largest script writing endeavor took the stage with the production of my first full-length play, "Frame(D)." Inspired by the classic board game Clue, this original multi-media gameplay experience allowed me to wear multiple hats as writer, director, and producer, for film and the stage. The play's staging at the prestigious Royal and Shirley Durst Humanities Theater at SUNY Purchase College marked a significant milestone in my theatrical journey.

My work has graced the stages of several notable New York City Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway venues. My One-Act and Short plays have been produced at The Hudson Guild Theater, The East Village Basement, and The Secret Theater.

My latest work, "i'M fInE," is set to make its debut at the Actors Studio Drama School Repertory Season in spring 2025. This premiere marks a significant milestone in my playwriting career.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance with a focus on Playwriting from the Conservatory of Theater Arts at SUNY Purchase College in May 2022. Building on this foundation, I am currently advancing my craft in the Master of Fine Arts program in Playwriting at the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University, with an anticipated graduation in May 2025.
